Who wants to eat mediocre food and drink sub-par drinks? Not us! And we bet you don't either, so we have compiled a list of our favorites for you to give a whirl. We say this rather tongue in cheek because it's hard to not find good in Red Lodge; it's a tourist town after all!
Eats that aren't fancy but tasty:
- Mas Taco $
- Red Lodge Pizza Company $
- Red Lodge Cafe $
- Bogarts $$
- Bearcreek Salon $$$ {located just outside of Red Lodge in Bearcreek - Pitts makes a mean Prime Rib, get the warm Greek salad, and talk fly fishing with him - this is also the location for the nightly pig races}
Eats that aren't necessarily fancy, but are more of a sit-down vibe:
- Old Piney Dell $$$$ {out at Rock Creek Resort - our neighbor Eric is the chef and he is also catering the wedding...obviously we think he is fabulous}
- Carbon County Steakhouse $$$$
- The Pollard $$$
- Ox Pasture $$$ {this is new so we can't attest to their food, BUT their signage and decor are cool and they are getting great reviews on Yelp}
Bakery/Coffee/Lunch options because who doesn't want a little treat with their caffeine or maybe their lunch to be a sandwich:
- The Wild Table $
- Honey's Cafe $ {Chef Melissa is making our cake and cookies...and she rocks}
- Bakery that doesn't have a name yet, because it's new but it says bakery on the front and is in a green building just north of Scoops $
Must have other kinds of treats:
- Scoops Ice Cream Shop $ {we recommend the coconut cream}
- Candy Emporium $ {it's iconic}
One last random note and then we will move on from food and drink. We love the City Brew kiosk in the parking across from First Interstate Bank. Kiel gets the iced Glacier Chai and Amy gets the iced black coffee. In the winter, we just turn those to hot. City Brew is the local and better Montana version of Starbucks. There are a few real locations of it in Billings if you are interested in checking that out on your drive back home.
